Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan have collaborated on four films so far. Last year, the filmmaker confirmed that they are reuniting for a fifth film. While not many details were revealed about the project, fans were excited to see the reunion of this talented director-actor duo. However, there's sad news for the ones who were expecting a Salman Khan-Sooraj Barjatya movie. According to Mid-Day, the filmmaker and actor have amicably called off their collaboration.
As per the media report, creative differences led to Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya's reunion being called off. According to a source close to the tabloid, the script of the film was a common ground for the two. However, over time, there were too many things that they couldn't agree on and it made sense for them to 'call it off amicably'.
Although Salman Khan is no longer a part of the film, Sooraj Barjatya is keen to tweak the script and rework the cast of the film. The filmmaker is now contemplating to get a young actor on board for his film. "Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh are the frontrunners at the moment, and a decision will be made by next month," a source told the tabloid.
Last year, in an interview with India Today, Sooraj Barjatya confirmed that he would begin his new film with Salman Khan by mid-2024. The filmmaker told the publication since they were collaborating after a long time, the film had to be special. And for the same, he wanted to take time to write the film by himself.
Meanwhile, Salman and Sooraj's last film was Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which was released in 2015. In the film, Khan shared screen space with Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. Some of his previous works with the filmmaker include Hum Saath Saath Hain, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and more. As for Salman, he was last seen in Tiger 3.
