The biggest controversy in recent days has been the India’s Got Latent row, where the comedy show aired on YouTube came under fire and faced severe criticism. The controversy revolves around remarks made on the show by panelists Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia (Beer Biceps), Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh. Following the backlash, police have summoned almost everyone associated with the show, including its guests. Samay Raina has now requested an extension from the Mumbai Police, which has been granted.

Samay Raina Gets an Extension

In a recent episode of India’s Got Latent, panelist Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant a controversial question regarding parents and sex, which led to nationwide outrage and multiple complaints—one filed in Mumbai and another in Assam. As a result, the Mumbai Police summoned Samay Raina to record his statement.

According to Pinkvilla, Samay Raina has been granted relief with an extension until March 10, 2025, by which he must appear before the Mumbai Police. The extension was granted as the comedian is currently overseas on a U.S. tour. However, reports indicate he will return to India on March 17. Despite this, the Mumbai Police have warned Raina’s team that the investigation cannot be delayed indefinitely, instructing him to report within 14 days of the inquiry commencing.

Samay Raina & Ranveer Allahbadia Respond

Following the controversy, Samay Raina decided to take down all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel and issued a public statement. He posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."

Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia has reportedly been unreachable, and reports suggested he was missing from his home. He later issued a statement acknowledging the controversy and the threats he has been receiving. "My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better, and I am genuinely sorry. I'm watching death threats pour in from people saying they want to kill me and my family. People have invaded my mother's clinic, posing as patients. I'm feeling scared, and I don't know what to do. But I'm not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India. — Ranveer."
