Sandipta Sen on Noshtoneer: In real life, I can’t predict how I would react if I were Aparna

Sandipta Sen is all geared up with her new character, Aparna Gangopadhyay, in Noshtoneer. In the series directed by Aditi Roy, Aparna sees a life-changing crisis when her husband faces an allegation of sexual misconduct. This is Sandipta’s second association with Aditi after Bodhon which was dropped last year. In a chat with OTTplay, the actress talked about her character and her experience of working with Aditi. 

By her own admission, Aparna’s character is far from Sandipta’s real nature. “My character Raka Sen in Bodhon is like me. Outspoken and uncompromising. Aparna Gangopadhyay is different. She lives a happy life with her ‘perfect’ husband. She trusts her husband completely and within a wink, her life gets disrupted. She doesn’t know who to trust,” she said.

Noshtoneer, Aparna’s husband Rishav, played by Soumo Banerjee, is a professor. His student (played by Angana Roy) brings allegations of sexual misconduct and #MeToo movement gathered steam. How Aparna behaves in this turmoil is the crux of the series. How would Sandipta behave in such an untoward hypothetical situation? “I don’t know. I have no answer to it. I just cannot predict how I would behave if my close associate, friend, or family member gets a #MeToo charge. I just know one thing that justice should prevail. That’s in my value system,” said the actress. 

Talking about her preparations, Sandipta credited the director for almost everything. “Aditidi handheld me to the character. The dilemma, disturbance, and every aspect of the character are properly briefed by her. I watched her in Bodhon also. She is calm and knows what she wants. She minutely explains what she expects. It was amazing working with her,” said the actress. 

Directed by Aditi, Noshtoneer which features Sandipta, Shoumo, Angana Roy, Rahul Dev Bose, Anindya Chatterjee, and others will drop on Hoichoi on June 2.
