Among the many unrequited Bollywood love stories that fans dig till date, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's seems to top the list among the current generation. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a first-hand witness to their romance on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He has now spoken on the very love story openly for the first time ever. Here's what he said...
During his interview with ETimes, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was asked if there was love in the air on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He responded by stating, "Yes, there was love in the air. But not just between them; there was a lot of affection among all of us. Zohra Sehgalji, Helen Aunty, Salman, Aishwarya, Vikram Gokhale, Smita Jayekar—we were like one big family."
Sanjay Leela Bhansali hints at Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh while stating he has seen no love story on sets like Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai's in recent times. Bhansali confirmed that being professional on sets tops the priority list in these times, and thus, the actors do not openly express their emotions on sets. "Today, it’s purely professional. And honestly, I’m fine with that," he said, stating that times have changed.
After Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has majorly collaborated with real-life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. They worked together on three movies, namely Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. The filmmaker is now working on his first movie with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Love & War.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not a huge fan of remakes and thus, he would not want to touch any of his movies, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, for a sequel/remake. The filmmaker, however, does consider a Khamoshi remake since he wishes to alter the ending of the movie.
