Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty would have probably lost count of the number of times he has been asked about Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B’s OTT arrival. Social media is flooded with such queries and all this while, they have never been met with a response from Rakshit, director Hemanth M Rao, or Amazon Prime Video, where the film was expected to arrive, since Side A is already there.
The film’s satellite rights had been sold to Zee Network, so there was speculation that Rakshit could have given Side B to Zee5, as the sale of Side A to Prime Video was not under his control. But today, Ralshit finally set the record straight. Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B will come on Amazon Prime Video after all, but a date is yet to be finalized.
In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, prior to the theatrical release of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B, Rakshit had said that the digital rights of the film were still up for grabs and had discussed the possibility of giving the film to a platform under a different scheme and not a direct sale. He cited the example of 777 Charlie, the Kannada version of which went to Voot Select (now JioCinema), while the other language versions – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam – came to Prime Video, albeit on rental basis only, a status that never changed.
It remains to be seen if Rakshit has sold SSE Side B outright to Prime Video, making it available to subscribers at no additional cost, or if it arrives with a caveat. SSE Side A, had been sold by Rakshit’s earlier business partner, Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, who was to produce it initially. When Side B’s OTT release was delayed, there was speculation of a legal tussle yet again about the rights, as Sapta Sagaradaache Ello was conceived as a single movie and then split later on.
