Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B to be postponed by a week or two?

The buzz in industry circles is that the team could look at pushing the release of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B ahead for one of two reasons or both

When Rakshit Shetty told the world that his next, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, would be a two-part release, he also declared that each of the films would be in theatres seven weeks apart. September 1 and October 20 was a done deal for Side A and Side B. But then after Side A released and did fairly well at the box office, Rakshit and director Hemanth got busy with the other language release, bringing the Telugu version to theatres on September 22 and with a Malayalam version expected shortly. Amid all this, the duo has not had time to start promoting Side B, although the end of Side A was a teaser of sorts for what’s to come.

With less than a month to go for Side B’s release, there’s no word on song launches or the trailer, for that matter. Side B also has six songs by composer Charan Raj, which they were looking at extending to make it seven even. Given the love Side A has got so far in Karnataka and Andhra/Telangana, the buzz now is that the team could be looking at pushing Side B ahead by a week or two, which will give them enough time for the Malayalam version of Side A and to promote the second film too. This paucity of time aside, what is also being taken into consideration is that the Dasara long-holiday is quite packed at the box office.

Shivarajkumar’s much-awaited action heist thriller has a day’s head-start right now and will release on October 19 along with Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo. Then, a day later, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B will join in, along with Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageshwara Rao and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, Tiger Shroff’s Ganapath, Martin Scorsese’s Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Killers of the Flower Moon, Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas, among many others. Rakshit’s plan was to release the Kannada version on October 20 and have the Telugu one follow a later, but at the moment, his initial plan is looking a little shaky, say industry insiders, as the film may not get the kind of shows/screens it deserves. Given that Side A has just completed a successful 25 days at the box office, this would be injustice to the second instalment, owing to which the rumours of a possible postponement by a week or two have now cropped up.

Then there's also the question of when to release Side A on OTT. According to sources, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video, but there's no word on whether Rakshit will release Side A prior to Side B or put both out together at a later stage. Netizens have urged the actor-filmmaker to consider bringing Side A to OTT, as there are chances that audiences who did not catch it in theatres may watch it and then show an interest in Side B.
