The sequel’s producer, Adam Shankman, shared the exciting update on the film on his official Instagram handle. The upcoming film is the sequel to the 1993 film directed by Kenny Ortega. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, the film follows the story of a young boy who unwittingly summons a deceased trio of witch sisters when he lights a black flame candle on Halloween. The sisters, having been executed over 300 years ago for murder, go in search of a child’s soul to devour to regain their immortality.

Although the film had not been popular at the time of its release, it became a cult classic in the years after, and a sequel was ordered in 2019.
