Sayantika Banerjee harassed in Bangladesh while shooting a film

Actress-politician Sayantika Banerjee faced an uncomfortable situation while shooting in Bangladesh. She was acting in a film, Chayabaj, which is the first production of Manirul Islam. The film is directed by Taju Kamrul. Sayantika paired up with Jayed Khan. The actress returned to Kolkata suddenly. She initially did not want to disclose anything and hence did not talk about it after returning to Kolkata. 

According to a Bangladeshi media house, the shooting is half done and the actress came back to Kolkata without finishing her work. It was reported that the choreographer, Michael, misbehaved with the actress.

In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Sayantika said that though the choreographer’s name has cropped up, the main problem lies elsewhere. She further stated that the problem began from the basics and she was harassed because of the producer’s mismanagement. She said, “Initially a teacher came for the dance shooting but he left because of monetary issues. Then the young boy called Michael came.” But she denied the accusation that she came back without shooting.

Sayantika said, “I am a professional artist and can't think of doing such things. Michael, without my consent, held my hand and I stopped him in front of everyone.” She also said, “Time and again I tried to contact the producer regarding some technical issues but did not get any response. He has no planning and no management.”

Sayantika said that she waited in Cox’s Bazar for two days. “We were suddenly told that a dance sequence would be shot. When Manirul did not respond after being called many times, I said that I would not work with Michael like this.” But the producer told her that she had to work with Michael, according to Sayantika.

However, Sayantika hinted that she might complete the work. “If there is a proper method, I will definitely finish my work. But I have to know the screenplay and the shot division in detail.” The actress signed for another film with Jayed before coming to Kolkata.
