If the buzz in the industry is to go by, Dhanush's Naane Varuven, directed by his elder brother Selvaraghavan, is likely to hit screens by the end of this month. The team recently released a poster from the film in which Dhanush and the film's leading lady Elli Avr Ram are featured. Selvaraghavan wrote that an update from the film will be out soon. While fans have speculated that the update will be about a single and now there is yet another speculation that the trailer will be out on September 11.

Dhanush is said to be playing a dual role in the film that has Elli Avr Ram and Indhuja Ravichandran as the leading ladies. Selvaraghavan, too, has faced the arc lights for the film. The film will mark the reunion of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and Selvaraghavan after a hiatus. The film is bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations. An official announcement about the same is yet to be made.

In the meantime, Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is all set to release on September 30. The film is said to be one the director's most ambitious projects. The magnum opus has an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in the lead. The team has begun revealing the character posters of the supporting cast as well with the latest announcements being about Sarathkumar and Parthiban as Periya Pazhuvettarayar and as Chinna Pazhuvettarayar. 

The film has music by AR Rahman and the audio launch will be held on September 6. Cinematography is by Ravi Varman, editing is by Sreekar Prasad and art direction is by Thotta Tharani. The film is being jointly bankrolled by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The film will be released worldwide in five languages, in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of novelist Kalki's work of the same name.
