The release date for the Srijit Mukherji directorial was revealed today on the occasion of Raj’s birthday

From the field to film, get ready to witness the prowess of Mithali Raj on the silver screen. The upcoming biographical film Shabaash Mithu, based on the cricketing legend’s life, has finally got a release date. The film will be released in theatres on February 4, 2022.
The news was unveiled by the makers on social media today, on the occasion of Raj’s birthday. The announcement included a new poster of the film, featuring Taapsee Pannu as the titular protagonist. The star is seen in the blue hues of the Indian cricket team uniform, wielding a bat in an action ready pose.
Raj also took to Twitter to express her elation at the announcement, congratulating and thanking the makers.
The current ODI and Test captain of the women's national cricket team, Raj has established herself as a trailblazer in the sport and has several records to her name such as scoring the highest runs in women's international cricket . She is also the recipient of several awards, including the Padma Shri.
The film is Pannu’s latest sport-centred film after Rashmi Rocket. Shabaash Mithu will see Pannu share the screen with Vijay Raaz.
The upcoming biopic is directed by Srijit Mukherji and has on Priya Aven as the writer.
Viacom18 Studios produces the film. The studio has also produced other popular sports biopics such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom, which starred Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra Jonas respectively.
