Taapsee Pannu has proven with time that she is a talented actor who can bring complex characters to life on screen. The actor, who is never far away from a difficult role, has now called playing Mithali Raj in her upcoming movie Shabaash Mithu as her biggest challenge.

"It was the biggest challenge thrown at me to play Mithali on-screen as I'm anything but her, in terms of demeanour. I took notice of her from her journey beyond cricket," Taapsee told IANS as reported by Times of India.

Mithali Raj also previously expressed her first thought about Taapsee, after meeting the actor for the first time in Bangalore after the movie was announced. “I found her exactly opposite of me - chirpy with a lot of energy and there I was quiet, trying to gaze and understand her," expressed Mithali.

Shabaash Mithu, directed by National Film Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji, is a biographical sports drama. The movie will trace the life of Mithali Raj, the former captain of the India women's national cricket team. Taapsee has been in constant preparation to essay the role of the iconic cricketer.

Apart from Taapsee in the lead, the movie also features Mumtaz Sorcar, Vijay Raaz and Devadarshini in important roles. The movie is backed by Viacom18 Studios and Colosceum Media. A trailer for the movie was released a few weeks back, which now has over 16 million views on YouTube. The movie is slated to hit theatres on July 15.

Taapsee, who has previously appeared in sports dramas such as Soorma, Saandh Ki Aankh, and Rashmi Rocket, is also working on Jana Gana Mana, Dunki, Dobaaraa and Blurr.
