In recent years, there has been a growing uproar against advertisements that mislead consumers by promoting one thing under the guise of something else. Among the most controversial are pan masala ads, which have repeatedly faced scrutiny. Several Bollywood actors endorsing such products have come under the radar, with legal and public backlash following their involvement.

Now, in a new legal development, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have been named in a complaint for misleading advertisements promoting Vimal Pan Masala. The case, filed in Jaipur, accuses the actors and the product manufacturer of misrepresenting its ingredients.

Legal Complaint Filed in Jaipur

Not long ago, Akshay Kumar walked away from the Vimal ad campaign, publicly announcing his disassociation from the brand. Following his exit, Tiger Shroff stepped in to join Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn as the new face of Vimal. However, this endorsement has now led to legal trouble, as the Jaipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has issued a notice to the three actors, along with the Chairman of JB Industries, the manufacturer of Vimal Gutkha.

According to a LatestLY report, all parties involved—including Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, and the Chairman of JB Industries—have been summoned to appear before the forum on March 19, 2025. The complaint alleges that the advertisement they featured in misrepresents the ingredients of the product, thereby misleading consumers.

Allegations Against the Advertisement

The complaint was filed by Jaipur resident Yogendra Singh Badiyal, who claims that the advertisement falsely implies that the product contains saffron, an expensive spice. The tagline of the ad, "Daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum" (Each grain has the strength of saffron), is called highly misleading by the complainant.

Badiyal argues that saffron costs approximately INR 4 lakh per kilogram, yet the product is being sold at a significantly lower price, raising serious doubts about the authenticity of the claim. The complaint further states that such deceptive advertising lures consumers under false pretenses.

Health Risks and Ethical Concerns

Beyond misleading advertising, the complaint also highlights health concerns. Badiyal alleges that the actors and manufacturers are endorsing a harmful product, as gutkha—a mix of pan masala and tobacco—is hazardous to health and has been linked to cancer. He accuses the company of deliberately misleading the public by using celebrity endorsements to increase consumption of the product.

With the hearing scheduled for March 19, 2025, all eyes will be on the proceedings to see how the case unfolds.
