Shah Rukh Khan: For the next 10 years, I want to do action films

In his 30-year career in movies, Shah Rukh Khan has gone from being an anti-hero to the most romantic hero Bollywood has seen. Over the years, the star has also been in movies with a lot of drama which deals with social issues. Now, SRK only wants to do out-and-out action films, which he has been unable to do for a very long time. This is the major reason the actor said yes to Pathaan, which brings him back on the big screen as a leading hero after four long years.

During an interaction with Deadline Hollywood at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2022, Shah Rukh said, "I've never done an action film; I've done really sweet love stories. I've done some social dramas. and I have done some bad guys. But nobody was taking me for action. I'm 57 years old, and I thought, for the next 10 years, I want to do action films; I want to do Mission Impossible-ish kinds of films."

Speaking about the commendable job Red Chillies Entertainment has done in terms of VFX, the superstar continued, "I want to do over-the-top action films because I think in India, the technology of filmmaking (has advanced) in the last seven to eight years, and I would take a part of that credit specifically with my company bringing in stuff and learning visual effects for the last 10 to 15 years. I think we've gone ahead leaps and bounds."

SRK also said that his kids specifically love the action genre, so he wants to tap into it. "So I want to use all that knowledge, and young kids, mine specifically, like action films. So Pathaan is an action film set all over the place, be it in Russia, Dubai, Somalia, or lots of other places here," the superstar concluded.

Pathaan will be released on January 25, 2023.
