R. Madhavan has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan introduced his friends to the actor, while he was in Nambi Narayan’s getup. The actor reveals that these stalwarts could not recognize him and passed by his side, only to later be informed by SRK that the man indeed is R. Madhavan. Having turned even a director with the film, R. Madhavan has shared that this was a big moment for him.
While talking to Zoom, R. Madhavan said that while Shah Rukh Khan thought he knew Nambi Narayan, he actually realized that he knew nothing. This happened when Madhavan started telling SRK about the scientist’s true contribution.
“He was so moved that he told me he can’t get over what I’m doing. He called some of the stalwarts from the industry,” Madhavan shared. He refused to name the stalwarts and promised that their photo will be released soon.
These friends, Madhavan revealed, were shooting in studios across the city but SRK called them to Rocketry sets. While they all knew Maddy, none of them recognized the actor in Nambi Narayan’s getup. “They all walked past me and went straight to Shah Rukh who told them, ‘Guys I’d like you to meet Maddy’. They looked at me and realized that it was actually me,” the actor recalled jokingly.
“Have I spent a lot of time with Shah Rukh sir? I have not,” Madhavan added. He then said he wouldn’t ‘dare’ to call SRK his friend. “He’s a superstar and has been in the industry forever. It’ll be a privilege to think that he’s a friend of mine but my respect does not allow me to say that. I’ve always been a fan,” the actor spoke. He also mentioned that they haven’t spent a lot of time except for Zero.
Madhavan states that the two actors have a mutual respect for each other. SRK, who has loved experimental content, showed strong backing towards Maddy when he wanted to try something new through Rocketry. “He told me he’s very envious and proud of me,” Madhavan recalled.
The actor took a huge step with Rocketry. He did not only act in the role of Nambi Narayan but also directed and produced the film whose story he truly believed in.
