Shane Nigam to play youth from Pudukottai in Madraskaaran; reveals plot details of comedy thriller

We had earlier reported that Malayalam actor Shane Nigam will be making his Tamil debut with the upcoming film titled Madraskaaran. The film has gone on floors from Wednesday (February 14). Meanwhile the actor recently opened about his character and the plot details of Madraskaaran.

Madraskaaran also features Niharika Konidela as the female lead, with Sam CS scoring the music.

What is Madraskaaran about?

In a chat with Times of India, Shane Nigam said that he will be playing the role of Sathyamoorty, hailing from Pudukottai in Madraskaaran. While his character grew up in Chennai, the actor said that he has to go back to his native after his father wants him to get married. "What takes place from then on is what the film is all about. Even though there's action in the film, it leans more towards an emotional drama space,” the actor was quoted as saying.

Shane also said that he had been getting offers from Tamil after the success of RDX, which is similar to Madraskaaran in terms of revenge plot, but different in the subjects. The actor added that he will be playing a Tamilian in the film, one of the biggest challenges for him.

Team of Madraskaaran

Directed by Vaali Mohan Das of Rangoli fame, the film will mark Niharika's sophomore Tamil project after Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Gautham Karthik. Besides Shane and Niharika, the film also stars Kalaiyarasan, Pandiarajan, Karunas and Aishwarya Dutta in supporting key roles.

According to director Vaali, Madraskaaran revolves around the consequences of a minor ego conflict between two individuals. The camera for the film is cranked by Prasanna, while the music is scored by Sam CS. The team began to shoot on Wednesday. A release date for the film is yet to be announced. Produced by B Jagadish of SR Productions, Madraskaaran is expected to be out in cinemas by mid-2024.

Meanwhile, Shane was last seen in Malayalam film Vela. He was also seen in RDX, co-starring Neeraj Madhav and Antony Varghese.
