Sharmila Tagore turns 79; Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and the clan unite to celebrate the day – Heart-warming pictures inside!

Instagram is a vibrant, happy place if you look at it on the bright side. And today, making it an even happier zone, are the pictures from the intimate birthday celebration of legendary actor Sharmila Tagore. The veteran star turns 79 today and the entire Khan clan reunited to celebrate the head of the family on her special day. Sharing pictures from the celebration were Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sara Ali Khan. 

On their respective Instagram profiles, both Sara and Kareena shared a series of pictures from the birthday celebrations. While Kareena shared pictures with Sharmila Tagore and wished her mother-in-law while receiving a kiss from her on her cheek, Sara shared pictures from the celebration featuring the entire family together. She even shared a video from the party and wished her Badi Amma a happy birthday.

Kareena has always been an admirer of Sharmila Tagore. Recently, in conversation with Midday, the actress spoke about Tagore being a "game changer". She was asked about the women in the Kapoor family not working after getting. Kareena had said, “I think women in the Kapoor family chose not to work; that’s what I feel. Then, obviously, it became kind of like they didn’t work. Or maybe at that time, somebody said, 'Don’t do it'. A lot of people said light-eyed actresses won’t make it in the industry. I don’t know if that’s true or not. But obviously, look at Karisma and so many others after her."

“I don’t know why people were not working. My mum-in-law worked throughout. She worked after getting married as well, and after Saif was born. She has been such an inspiration and such a tigress, who completely paved the way for all the actresses then. Everyone. She was a game-changer of sorts in the ’60s. So, I guess it was also a personal decision; may be that our parents took or my mother took,” she elaborated.
