Shefali Shah's next campus comedy, Doctor G, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh, will feature her in a surprise appearance. The actor characterised the Anubhuti Kashyap film as a lighthearted film about a significant problem.

She told PTI that she plays a very minor role. The actor made a promise to do it a long time ago. Being a part of an ensemble cast once more appealed to her as being intriguing. Shah thought the script was fantastic and she's really excited about watching the movie and seeing how it turns out.

Another project in development for the 49-year-old is 3 of Us, a film by Paatal Lok director Avinash Arun. Swanand Kirkire and Jaideep Ahlawat also appear in the relationship drama.

Shah will play a vulnerable woman in the movie, a stark contrast to her roles as strong women like DCP Vartika Chaturvedi from the Delhi Crime series.

The actor hasn't played that role before. There is a pattern to what she does, possibly as a result of the roles that she has performed. However, this character is incredibly weak, defenceless, and delicate.

Shah claimed she had grown choosier about her job over time. She is in conversations with a few projects. The actor will hold off until she experiences something truly exciting. Professionally, the year has been fantastic. She has to take action that either meets or exceeds it. When Shah is genuinely passionate about anything, she has to return to work. Shah will wait. Then, for her, the waiting game has worked out well.

The actor has even directed two short films. In two self-starring COVID-19-based short films, Someday and Happy Birthday Mummy Ji, Shah experimented with writing and directing. She portrayed a front-line healthcare worker in Someday, which served as her directorial debut. The character returned home after a seven-day quarantine due to the pandemic and spent time communicating via a door with her elderly mother, who has Alzheimer's disease.

Similar to how she drew on her own life experiences when writing Happy Birthday Mummy Ji, Shah thought her lead character represented all the ladies you knew. It had favourable reviews when it debuted as a one-character movie.
