Shefali Shah opens up about facing sexism at home, says nobody questions when Vipul Shah shoots continuously

National Award-winning actor Shefali Shah, who was last seen in Disney+Hotstar series, Human , recently opened up about experiencing sexism at home but she said she understands it as there is a generation gap in the family. 

The actor was in a conversation with Pinkvilla when she said she might come across as opinionated but she's just speaks passionately while having conversations. The actor is married to director Vipul Amrutlal Shah. She said growing up, she followed whatever her parents used to say without questioning it. Today, she is impressed by youngsters who have their own opinions about things. 

The Delhi Crime actor also said that she is picked on a lot by her family as her passionate attitude comes in the way of her conversation. "The thing is, I’m very passionate, and that’ll come across in the way I have a conversation… On a certain level, maybe from your in-laws, but they belong to a different generation," she said adding that when her husband, Vipul Shah goes shoots continuously, nobody questions him. But when she shoots for longer hours or back to abck, she often has to face questions like, ‘Again you have to shoot?’. "I’m like, ‘Are you serious? Did I just get asked that question?’ Or, it’s like, ‘You’re shooting for so many hours?’ That’s how it works, how come that question is never asked to your son?,” she told the portal.

She further added that she is a multitasker and great at handling household responsibilities - 'Cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, jhaadu, pochha, bartan, kapda, dusting, I’m fantastic…”, she added as she was reminded of another example of sexism. She recalled another instance where her mother-in-law once saw Vipul Shah doing the dishes. Her mother-in-law said, ‘Itna bada director bartan ghas raha hai.’ Shefali found it to be hilarious. "And I’m thinking in my mind, ‘Actress bartan ghas rahi hai, yeh khayal kabhi nahi aayega’. He’s a big director, yes, but what does that have to do with the house? He’s a homemaker as much as I am,” she said.

Shefali Shah is best known for Monsoon Wedding, Dil Dhadakne Do, The Last Lear, and Delhi Crime. The actor has a busy year last year and is now gearing up for the release of several projects. She has Darlings, starring Alia Bhatt and Vijay Varma, and Season 2 of Delhi Crime. She will also be seen in Doctor G, led by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh, and Jalsa with Vidya Balan.
