'Mr India' continues to be one of Shekhar Kapur's finest works. The filmmaker directed this movie, featuring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor, in 1987. It is considered as an iconic Bollywood film. Shekhar is a celebrated director who has made some memorable movies like 'Bandit Queen', 'Masoom', and more. During a conversation with X (formerly Twitter) user, Kapur revealed he was offered a whopping amount to make 'Mr India's sequel.

Reacting to one of Shekhar Kapur's tweets on X, a user asked the filmmaker, "Sir with due respect, dont you think after the films ends, if it leaves you with the feeling of revisiting it, is the true assessment of job well done? Till when can just fan service and them rejoicing go on for (sic)."
To this, Shekhar replied, "It’s film that emotionally move generations, that define an age. Those are the important films. And @iamsrk has done quite a few I was offered 300cr to make Mr India 2, claiming they will make their money back in just 3 weeks I said 3 weeks? but Mr India has lasted 30 years (sic)." Yes, Shekhar was offered Rs 300 crore to make 'Mr India 2'.

Shekhar Kapur talks about 'Mr India 2'
Earlier, in an interview with India Today, Shekhar Kapur had opened up about 'Mr India 2'. "I can count at least 10 characters which people remember from the movie. Somebody needs to understand that about Mr. India it was not about one man with power, but about every character. Javed Akhtar created them on script and then we worked on it. Somebody has to build a universe of characters, it cannot be only about one invisible man," he told the publication.
Work-wise, Kapur's last directorial venture was 'What's Love Got to Do with It?'.
