Shilpa Shetty, who will be seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming OTT venture, Indian Police Force, shared how Rohit Shetty is a ‘diva’ and a ‘tyrant’ on set.
Shilpa Shetty is gearing up for her OTT debut, Indian Police Force, which will be streaming on Prime Video, on January 19, 2024 . The crime thriller series, directed by Rohit Shetty will also feature other renowned faces such as Siddharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, Sharad Kelkar, Isha Talwar, Shweta Tripathi, and Nikitin Dheer.
In a recent discussion with Instant Bollywood, the actress was asked about the one thing she loved and the one she hated about director Rohit Shetty. Laughing, the amused star declared that this was a ‘panga’ (problem), before spilling the beans.
Shilpa Shetty expressed what she loved about the action connoisseur. She said that she admired the way Rohit Shetty presents his actors, in an amazing manner with ‘so much swag’. While revealing what she hated about him, the Dhadkan star shared, ‘What I hate about him? He’s a diva, I call him a diva.’
Shilpa then confirmed which Shetty of the two of them was a ‘bigger diva’ before disclosing that ‘he is a tyrant on sets’ But the actress then explained it further by saying that ‘it’s a good thing’ as it helps lead a project, which is the ultimate goal of this manner of ‘self-preservation.’
It seems Rohit Shetty is fine with Shilpa’s amusing dig as seen in another interview with ETimes, in which Shilpa Shetty had alluded to the director’s daily stint on set as a ‘tyrant’. When asked whether there was any advantage to the fact that Rohit and she both were Shettys, a contrary Shilpa vehemently disagreed, laughing, ‘There is no advantage. It was a disadvantage.’
The actress then revealed the humor involved in the situation for her as Rohit Shetty is very fair-minded and unbiased. She clarified how ‘it’s only his work’ that matters. So, he may laugh and joke occasionally on set but the rest of the time, ‘he’s like a tyrant’ on set. She said how when he’s working in a corner on set, like doing his shot division or thinking about a scene, nobody dares to tiptoe near him as he may explode like a bomb anytime.
But as Shilpa Shetty was quick to point out, the moment it’s pack up, Rohit Shetty becomes ‘normal’ again. She deduced it to be ‘a very Shetty thing’ as she, too, on set is little interested in anything but her work, she just wants to do her job to the best of her ability.
