Kannada cinema’s Century Star Shivarajkumar’s got to be one of the busiest actors in town. At any given point, Shivanna, as the actor is popularly known, has several projects in the pipeline. For instance, right now, all eyes are on Shivanna’s film with A Harsha, Bhajarangi 2, which is releasing on October 29, but the actor is also committed to films with Vijay Milton (Bairagee), Ram Dhulipudi (Nee Sigoovaregu), A Harsha (Vedha), Lohith H (Sathyamangala) and an untitled project with Rishab Shetty. There’ve also been several reports of a collaboration with Yogaraj Bhat for a period film that will also have Prabhudeva on board. The order in which he will finally do them remains unknown at this point, but it has been reported that Harsha’s film Vedha, will be made under Shivanna’s home banner.
Amid all this comes news that Shivanna is reuniting with director Duniya Suri, with whom he’s made the hit films Kaddipudi and Tagaru. According to a New Indian Express report, Shivanna has said, “Suri is currently busy with Bad Manners, and we will be soon meeting to have a discussion. Both my films with Suri — Kaddipudi and Tagaru — did magic on the silver screen. I believe that Suri always looks forward to doing quite a different subject with me. He brings in that raw flavour in his film’s presentation, and I feel our next project will only be bigger and better. Having said that, we are at a very initial stage of discussion.”
While their hattrick combination is still in a very nascent stage, it is an exciting prospect to look forward, given that their previous films have done well. In fact, their last film together, Tagaru, has attained cult status, with the title track now one of the most popular Kannada songs.
