The Big Daddy teaser that team Ghost revealed on the occasion of leading man Shivarajkumar’s birthday earlier this week has become a massive hit. What’s most interesting is that Big Daddy is not a specially-shot promo; it is a portion from the movie that director MG Srinivas culled out to present one of the actor’s three shades in Ghost. “This is a scene from the film and will be one of many whistle-worthy moments,” says Prasanna VM, who has written the dialogues for the film. Given the film’s genre, the dialogues he’s written are mostly crisp and to the point, he adds.
The film has a massive ensemble cast, with Malayalam and Tamil actor Jayaram and Hindi actor Anupam Kher making their Kannada cinema debuts. Jayaram’s portions with Shivarajkumar will be a major highlight, reckons Prasanna, stating that the sequences are quite intense and that the former has done a fantastic job.
Ghost, which has been announced as a Dasara release, is currently in post-production, which includes as many as 1,800 VFX shots, which Srinivas is getting done in certain foreign studios. Among this, the major work is for the sequences in which the team is de-aging Shivarajkumar. The challenge here, explains Prasanna, is that in his younger days, Shivarajkumar was a lot chubbier than he is now and had a fuller facial structure too. “Generally, people tend to be thin in their youth and then put on weight. In Shivarajkumar’s case, it is the other way around. For de-aging, the reference used are pictures from his earlier days and the team is currently working on this, as they have to match his facial structure to how he was back in the day. I think it is turning out well. The studio has shared some rushed and I believe fans will be thrilled when they see the output. My best guess is that Srinivas will keep that look under wraps until the film hits theatres and won’t be a part of even the trailer,” adds Prasanna.
