The Kannada films in theatres for Dasara were meant to be Shivarajkumar’s Ghost and Rakshit Shetty’s Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B, out on October 19 and 20 respectively. But after several other big films from Tamil, Telugu and Hindi also swooped in to stake claim to the holiday week, Rakshit decided to move his film out of the competition and pushed it ahead by a week. Given the positive response for Side A, especially after its OTT outing, Rakshit is looking at giving Side B a simultaneous release in other languages too, especially Telugu, and with two big releases there – Tiger Nageshwara Rao and Bhagavanth Kesari - getting screens will be difficult during Dasara. By the 27th, the fate of these films would have been determined and chances of giving Side B its due is more.

Turns out, the theatre scenario in Telangana/Andhra Pradesh means that director MG Srinivas will bring the Telugu version of Ghost on October 27 only. “At the moment, it appears that Ghost will not have a simultaneous Telugu release. We will give the Kannada original a limited release there, but the plan right now is to release the Telugu dubbed version of Ghost on October 27. We will have better clarity on this in the coming days,” explained the filmmaker. If Ghost’s Telugu version does get delayed by a week, it will set up a clash with Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B after all. The Hemanth M Rao directorial was well received among a niche crowd in Hyderabad. Ghost, meanwhile is seen as the kind of film that will appeal to all sets of audiences.

After last evening’s Leo trailer, several netizens pointed out that the Ghost trailer was better than both Tiger Nageshwara Rao’s and Leo’s, giving the Shivarajkumar-led film a much-deserved boost. The team is now hopeful that this positive buzz translates into footfalls in theatres.
