It’s been a long wait for Malayalam audiences who had been waiting for Dileep and Siddharth’s Kammarasambhavam to premiere on an OTT platform. The Rathish Ambat directorial made its digital debut on Jio Cinema on June 19, as part of its Malayalam Mojo movie marathon.
Tamil star Siddharth, who made his Malayalam debut with the movie, shared a video message recently urging people to watch the movie. “Namaskaram. I hope all of you will watch my Malayalam debut Kammarasambhavam, exclusively on JioCinema,” he said, about the movie scripted by Murali Gopy.
In an interview with Kochi Times a few years ago, while the actor was set to make his debut, Siddarth had said, “When I met Murali and Rathish and they narrated the whole script to me, I was taken aback by the quality of the ambition. See, it’s good to be ambitious but then when you are ambitious with this kind of quality with the amount of research that has gone into the film, the kind of entertainment value it offers in terms of how the movie wants to make the audience feel, I was spellbound. Everyone involved believes in it with the same kind of passion and expects it to do what they think it’s going to do. I can put Kammarasambhavam on par with any international movie that you will watch.”
The movie, which is a rather subversive look at biopics, revolves around a conniving man named Kammaran (Dileep) whose life changes years later when a biopic is made on him, twisting history and his role in the freedom struggle, and thereby propelling him to the limelight. Siddharth plays his adversary in the movie.
Apart from Kammarsambhavam, Kayamkulam Kochunni, Mr and Ms Rowdy, Clint, Puzhyamma and Kuttymamma are the films in the Malayalam Mojo marathon by Jio Studios.
