Silambarasan announces festive release date of Maanaadu, find out

Silambarasan has announced a festive release date of his upcoming film Maanaadu. The film directed by Venkat Prabhu is slated to release during the Diwali weekend this year. STR took to his social media pages and announced the news with a poster featuring only a firework set to jet off from a bottle placed against the backdrop of a blast and waving flags. The political drama also features Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead and SJ Suryah as the main antagonist.

Silambarasan tweeted the announcement by writing, "#MaanaaduDeepavali #SilambarasanTR #Maanaadu @vp_offl @sureshkamatchi @thisisysr."

Other actors who are a part of Maanadu are Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar, Karunakaran and Premgi Amaren.

The shoot of Maanadu wrapped in July this year and the photos from the sets went instantly viral on the Internet. The film is produced by Suresh Kamatchi while Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music. 

Earlier during an interaction with Film Companion, Venkat Prabhu had spoken about the project and his collaboration with STR. He said, "STR will have a different style of characterization. The film will be a political thriller, a genre that neither of us has taken up yet. We want to surprise the audience with a film that they would never have expected from the two of us."

Prabhu had also revealed that the film will be released in 2019, but now, it's finally hitting the big screens during the Diwali weekend this year. 

Apart from Maanadu, Simbu will also feature in Pathu Thala directed by Obeli N. Krishna. The film is likely to release in 2022 and also features Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Karthik and Kalaiyarasan in pivotal roles.

On the other hand, the actor also announced Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu which reunites him with Gautham Vasudev Menon for the third time.
