The first look of Gautham Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, released by the filmmaker himself, had surprised one and all, thanks to Silambarasan aka Simbu's never-before-seen avatar in it. Now, the social media account from the film's production team released yet another picture of the actor in a lean look.
There was a time movie buffs almost wrote him, especially after the debacle of Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (2017), on which his fans had pinned high hopes on. There were allegations by a few in the industry on his non-cooperation on sets, lack of professionalism and lackadaisical behaviour. Silambarasan started gaining weight during the same time added salt to wound and his fans were disheartened, to say the least.
The newly-released still from Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which is a selfie clicked by the star in his caravan, has him appear young as he is said to have shed 15 kg for his role in the film, which is set against a rural backdrop. Silambarasan's fans took to social media to express happiness over their matinee idol's transformation. Many of them posted stills from Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan and Vandha Rajavadhan Varuven, two films for which he had faced massive criticism with regard to his physique, and compared his looks in those movies with his current physique. In the last year, the actor had knocked off 30 kilos before he started shooting for Suseenthiran's Eeswaran.
The crew, which was shooting in Tiruchendur with Radhika Sarathkumar, has now completed its first schedule. A couple of stills from the location had leaked last week and went viral in no time. The movie, which will have Gautham narrating a story in a rural backdrop for the first time in his two-decade-long career, has AR Rahman scoring music for the third time for the former's collaboration with Silambarasan.
