The team of Silambarasan's latest outing Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu had recently organised a special show for visually challenged students. In attendance at the event was actor Silambarasan himself, who not only watched the show with them, but also cheered them on and took pictures with them. Pictures of the same are doing the rounds on the internet and the gesture has won a lot of appreciation from Simbu's fans. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, had Silambarasan playing a gangster. The film opened to positive reviews at the box office and is successfully running in theatres for the second week. The  gangster drama is expected to reach Rs 100 crore mark soon.

The plot is based on a work by screenplay writer B Jeyamohan. Silambarasan essays the role of a Muthu, a graduate, who moves from a small town to the big city in Mumbai and then goes on to become a dreaded gangster after getting involved in the underworld activities. The actor had lost oodles of weight for the film and had undergone a massive transformation. The plot traverses through different ages of Muthu- right from his teenage days to his adulthood days. The film has Siddhi Idnani playing the leading lady. The supporting cast includes Neeraj Madhav, Raadika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Kayadu Lohar, Appukutty, Aangelina Abraham and Delhi Ganesh.

Music is by AR Rahman and the album has already become a huge hit among the audience. Cinematography is by Siddhartha Nuni and editing is by Anthony. The film has been bankrolled by Ishari Ganesh's Vels Film International and distributed by Red Giant Movies. This is the third film collaboration between Gautham Menon, AR Rahman and Silambarasan after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). Simbu and Gautham Menon had also worked together in the short Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn during the pandemic.
