Dhanush is part of the growing list of actors who're conscious about expanding their markets across languages, film after film. SIR a.k.a Vaathi, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual, will be an important film in the star's career, for it marks his debut in a straight Telugu film. Samyuktha Menon, who forayed into Telugu cinema with Bheemla Nayak and Bimbisara, plays the female lead in the college drama written and directed by Venky Atluri.

The first single from SIR, Mastaaru Mastaaru, sung by Shweta Mohan and composed by GV Prakash Kumar was launched today. The song, lyricised by Ramajogaiah Sastry, is a catchy melody featuring the lead pair gradually falling in love and focuses on the woman smitten by her colleague, a mathematics lecturer Bala Gangadhar Tilak. The lyrical video offers various glimpses of the interactions between Dhanush and Samyuktha and is enhanced by Sastry's brilliant word-play.

The beauty of Mastaaru Mastarru is its old-world quality with protagonists revelling in their ordinariness and simplicity. GV Prakash Kumar's consistency in the recent times has been impeccable, to say the least and his good run continues with SIR too. The Tamil version of the number is penned by the lead actor Dhanush himself. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Narra Srinivas too play important roles in the drama that's set to release in February 2023.

S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya are jointly producing the film under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. With cinematography by J Yuvraj, the film's crew also includes editor Navin Nooli, art director Avinash Kolla, to name a few. Srikara Studios is presenting the project. Dhanush, after wrapping up SIR, will move onto director Sekhar Kammula's multilingual political thriller.
