We had told you Sivakarthikeyan's Don, which was scheduled to release in March, would be released on May 13, in theatres. The latest information is that it has fetched a clean 'U' from the Censor Board of Film Certification.
Don is directed by Cibi Chakravarthy and is produced by Lyca Productions and SK Productions. Anirudh has composed the music for this film.
Don also stars Priyanka Mohan opposite Sivakarthikeyan, while SJ Suryah will play the antagonist. The film sees Samuthirakani play the role of Sivakarthikeyan's father.
The trailer of Don was released on May 6 at a grand audio launch held at Jeppiaar Engineering College, Chennai. The trailer introduces the actor, as a college student, who is on a journey to find his talent and figure out the purpose of his life. There are, in fact, moments in the trailer Sivakarthikeyan is in school uniform, which hints at a flashback in the film.
Sivakarthikeyan was quite confident that the film would work and had nothing but words of praise for his co-stars and crew.
“When we started to work on this project, we wanted to make sure that Lyca Productions had a stable profit, and we have accomplished it. When Cibi narrated the script of Don, I felt happy and I could emotionally connect with the script. It is a story that is a reflection of every student in college, and Cibi has crafted it nicely. If Don becomes a success, it will give hope to people like me and producers in such a way that they will start giving opportunities to newcomers," said Sivakarthikeyan.
Speaking about SJ Suryah, Sivakarthikeyan added, “I started doing mimicry with the voice of SJ Suryah sir, and I was popular in college culturals for this reason. I even told him this during the shooting. Since I have an introduction song and song with a heroine, it doesn’t mean that I am the hero. I would say that every character in this movie is a hero and has their value.”
The big challenge for the entire crew was to face the Pandemic, admitted Sivakarthikeyan. “Almost all the scenes involved a crowd in the college, and only with the cooperation of the entire crew, we were able to shoot these sequences without hurdles. Don was more like revisiting my childhood, as my dreams and ambitions kept shifting from time to time. The film will make audiences reflect on their life as they walk out of the theatres. I thank my fans, who have been showering unconditional love and support all over the years,” he concluded.
