The Flash to conclude with season 9

The hit CW TV series The Flash, based on DC’s ‘scarlet speedster’ is set to conclude its run after nine seasons on the network. The character was first introduced in the second season of Arrow with Grant Gustin essaying the role of Barry Allan, who would eventually become the superhero The Flash in the Arrowverse. The final season will be shorter than previous seasons with just 13 episodes. Gustin will reprise his role, possibly for the final time as the popular superhero as his character prepares to face new enemies that will threaten the ‘speed-force’ and the multiverse.

Stranger Things stars Sean Astin and Matthew Modine cast in drama series

Stranger Things alum Sean Astin and Mathew Modine have been cast in a new film titled Hard Miles. Directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna, the film will be a cycling drama written by Christian Sander based on the true story of Colorado’s Ridge View Academy cycling team, renowned for providing opportunities for at-risk youth. Astin, popular for playing Sam in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will play the lead.

Tiger Nageswara Rao adds Anupam Kher to its cast

Veteran Bollywood star Anupam Kher has been cast in the upcoming pan-India film Tiger Nageswara Rao, helmed by Vamsee. The film is a biopic based on the life of Tiger Nageswara Rao, a notorious thief from the 70s in Stuartpuram. The film stars Ravi Teja in the lead with Nupur Sanon and Gayatri Bhardwaj essaying supporting roles.

Schitt's Creek's star Emily Hampshire to make directorial debut

Emily Hampshire, star of the multiple Emmy-award-winning comedy series Schitt's Creek is set to make her directorial debut. Titled D-Day, the film is set to be a raunchy comedy about a woman named Kate, a newly single woman in search of love but also keen on sabotaging her ex’s wedding celebrations.

Women Talking

Sarah Polley’s upcoming drama is based on Miriam Toews’ novel of the same name. The film revolves around eight women who decide to fight back against their colony that are trying to convince everyone that the series of sexual assaults against hundreds of women is punishment by a demon for their sins. The film stars Frances McDormand, Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, and Jessie Buckley in the lead.

Empire of Light

Acclaimed director Sam Mendes’s new film Empire of Light, features a star-studded ensemble of Olivia Colman, Micheal Ward, Hannah Onslow, Tom Brooke, Crystal Clarke, Tanya Moodie, Toby Jones, and Colin Firth. The film is a romantic drama set in 80s England.

Top films set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival

The Banshees of Inisherin

In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and The Tragedy of Macbeth director Martin McDonagh is directing a drama film titled The Banshees of Inisherin. He will reunite with In Bruges stars Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell for the film with Eternals actor Barry Keoghan and Better Call Saul actress Kerry Condon playing supporting roles. The plot revolves around two friends who find themselves in turmoil when one of them abruptly ends their relationship.

Bones & All

Revered Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino has reunited with his Call Me by Your Name star Timothée Chalamet for the upcoming film Bones & All. The film is a coming-of-age romance horror film set in the Ronald Reagan era of American history. The plot follows the love story between a drifter and a young woman who embark on a journey across America as they stumble upon various challenges along the way. Taylor Russell plays the lead alongside Hollywood’s rising star Chalamet.
