Lady Gaga to play Harley Quinn in Joker sequel

It’s confirmed! Lady Gaga is all set to play Harley Quinn in the sequel to the hit 2019 film Joker. Titled Joker: Folie A Deux, the film will feature Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Joker. It is set to be a musical and will be directed by Todd Phillips, who also helmed the original. The film is slated to hit theaters on October 4th,2024.

Netflix acquires Australian film The Stranger

The Stranger, an Australian crime thriller directed by Thomas M. Wright, has been acquired by Netflix. The film starring Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris will premiere on the platform in October. The film had its premiere at the Cannes this year and is centered on two strangers who end up having a conversation during a long journey.

K-drama One the Woman streaming on MX Player

K-drama One the Woman which features actress Jo Yeon-joo in twin roles is exclusively available on MX Player in India. The drama revolves around two lookalies — one is a prosecutor who suffers from amnesia following an accident, while the other is the daughter-in-law of a wealthy family. Lee Sang-yoon plays the male lead in the drama which is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada and Malayalam.

Warner Bros. all but cancels the Snyderverse

In the wake of the shocking news surrounding the cancellation of Batgirl, there is growing speculation that Warner Bros. may have put the final nail in the coffin for the Snyderverse, the DC films developed under the guidance of Zack Snyder. The new report comes after documentarist Leslie Iwerks was reportedly denied access to the 2021 version of the Justice League, titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League, for her documentary on the DC Extended Universe. She was allegedly told by WB that the only definitive version of the Justice League was the universally panned version of the film reshot by Joss Whedon in 2017.

New Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav Announces 10-Year Plan For DC

The Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has announced that their DC films will have their own studio, similar to how Disney has a separate division for their Marvel IP called Marvel Studios. In fact, Zaslav also confirmed that WB are looking to emulate Disney and Marvel’s business structure created by Alan Horne and Bob Iger with Kevin Feige in charge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new proposed DC Studios is said to have a 10-year plan for sustainable growth and quality content. There is also speculation that HBO Max might merge with Discovery+ next year in an attempt by Warner Bros to create a single platform for a wider selection of content.

Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Jodie Comer to star in The Bikeriders

The upcoming film The Bikeriders, based on a book by photographer Danny Lyon has announced its cast. Directed by Jeff Nichols, the film stars Tom Hardy and Killing Eve lead Jodie Comer, along with this year’s breakout star Austin Butler, who essayed the King of Rock'n'roll, Elvis Preseley, in the film Elvis. The Bikeriders will likely be set in the 60s and focus on biker gangs in America.
