We had told you Madonne Ashwin, who directed Yogi Babu in the critically-acclaimed Mandela (streaming on Netflix), would be teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan, next. The latest we hear is that director Mysskin is likely to play the antagonist, although we await an official confirmation. Reports suggest that the director was impressed by his role, and has given his nod, verbally. However, Mysskin is yet to sign on the dotted line.
Tentatively titled SK 22, this one is rumoured to have Bollywood actor Kiara Advani playing the female lead. The official announcement regarding the cast and crew of SK 22 is awaited. Unconfirmed reports, further suggest the pre-production work will start sometime by June end or July first week.
Sivakarthikeyan, whose latest release was Don, is now shooting for SK 21, directed by KV Anudeep. Speaking about his untitled film with Jathi Ratnalu-fame Anudeep, Sivakarthikeyan clarified that it was a straight Tamil film that would be dubbed into Telugu. "That script has been written only in Tamil. We are planning to dub it into Telugu and add certain elements for the local audience," he told Cinema Express.
According to sources, Sivakarthikeyan will start shooting for Madonne Ashwin's film, before he begins work on the project, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. This one is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, Sony Pictures and R Mahendran.
Rumoured to be titled Maaveeran, this film has Sai Pallavi, opposite Sivakarthikeyan. Stunt director duo Anbariv, in an interview, had revealed that the film would have a pan Indian appeal and will be high on patriotism. Hearsay has that Harris Jayaraj will be brought on board to direct music for the film.
While launching the film, Haasan said, he was very proud to be collaborating with Sony Pictures Films India, Sivakarthikeyan and Rajkumar Periasamy “to bring this compelling story to the big screen.”
“The power of a well-told story is transformative, and this story will move, uplift and inspire the audience in many ways,” Kamal Haasan added, in his statement to the press.
On the other hand, Mysskin has Pisaasu II in his kitty. The film, starring Andrea Jeremiah in the lead, also has Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo role.
Pisaasu II also features Poorna, Namita Krishnamurthy, Psycho-fame Rajkumar Pitchumani and Santhosh Pratap of Sarpatta Parambarai, in key roles. Shot in Tamil, the film will be released in three languages, namely, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Pisaasu II has music by Karthik Raja and is produced by T Muruganantham under the banner of Rockfort Entertainment.
