Bigg Boss Telugu contestant Sohel opens up about his latest release Lucky Lakshman, directed by AR Abhi
Big Boss Telugu fame Sohel and Moksha are joining hands for Lucky Lakshman, which hits theatres this Friday. AR Abhi directs the film for producer Haritha Gogineni of Dattatreya Media (Guaranteed Entertainment). In a chat with media, Sohel opened up about his experiences on working for Lucky Lakshman.
From a common man to a celebrity
I am enjoying my work. Though I don’t have free-time as much now, I am not complaining. There’s a difference when you grow from a common man to a celebrity and it’s not easy to handle that change. I’m thrilled with the responses to the promos of my films. During promotions, I’m trying to learn the art of being true to myself and not act in front of the media. It has been hard dealing with the negativity on social media; it’s a place where negative comments thrive.
On a journey that started with Mr Pregnant
I signed Mr Pregnant first after coming from Bigg Boss though it’s sad that the film hasn’t seen the light of the day yet. It is a very unique film and I was depressed while knowing about the release delays owing to a few issues. I signed Bootcut Balraj, a mass entertainer and later, a family film, Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu. When I wanted to do a romance, a story like Lucky Lakshman came my way. The film deals with luck and how the near and dear don’t wish well for us when we progress in life.
What to expect from Lucky Lakshman?
Lucky Lakshman is a clean comedy sans any vulgarity and I play a software employee in the film. It’s a film that you can watch comfortably with your families; none of the scenes will leave you embarassed or awkward. It is meant for audiences of all age groups. The film is a product of great team work. The pace with which our cinematographer Andrew worked was unbelievable. We completed it across two schedules. It’s a colourful flick with good music and the editor Prawin Pudi did his job to perfection.
About the director, producer of the film
I and AR Abhi, like everyone in the industry, have worked very hard to score a hit. It needs to be seen how the audiences react to Lucky Lakshman. A senior producer after watching the film said that I had a safe product in my hands. I was satisfied. The producer Haritha Gogineni trusted us fully and is confident about the film and is releasing it on her own.
I currently have four films under my belt. If I wasn’t a worthy actor, so many offers wouldn’t have come my way. It’s a big deal that someone like director SV Krishna Reddy gave me an opportunity. I almost pinched myself when the offer came my way and heard the story twice. Though the producers said otherwise, Krishna Reddy garu was particular I act in it. I will always be indebted to him. The projects have increased my self esteem and I consider myself lucky.
