The recent Marvel movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been breaking several records since its opening weekend. The Tom Holland -led film, which is still currently running successfully in theatres, has broken even the records of Avatar and has become the third highest-grossing movie of all time in the US.
But when Doctor Strange aka Benedict Cumberbatch was approached for the film, he was not sure that the film will be so impactful. In an interview with Empire magazine, the actor revealed that he had his doubts. Speaking about the conversation with Kevin Feige, the longtime president of Marvel Studios, Cumberbatch told the magazine, "When Kevin Feige first said, 'We'll know about the future of cinema, or the cinemagoing experience, after this film,' I was like, 'OK, everyone's drinking too much of the Kool-Aid around here.'"
But the record-breaking film has proven him wrong. He added, "My ignorance was showed up." Cumberbatch made his debut in the MCU with the 2016 film, Doctor Strange. He reprised the role of Dr. Stephen Strange or Doctor Strange in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film also stars Jacob Batalon and Zendaya, among others. The film also marked the return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-men into the universe of Tom Holland where he fights the original villains like Green Goblin and Dr. Otto Ocativius.
The film was released in theatres in India on December 16 and in the US on December 17. The film is still available at select theatres across India.
Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch is awaiting the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he will be seen reprising the role of Doctor Strange. The film will release on May 6, 2022.
