Kapil Dev, the first World Cup-winning captain of India, said that he was not invited to the final match on Sunday. Did the BCCI forget to invite him? Kapil said, “There is so much work going on, there's so much responsibility, sometimes people forget.” But the country could not accept it. The cricket lovers were angry. Sreelekha Mitra shared the news on social media and reacted sharply.
Kapil told a news channel, “I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 to be there with me but I guess because it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget.”

Sreelekha was moved by such disrespect to Kapil Dev. She wrote, “Sir, maybe your PR skill is bad, you don't have millions of followers on Insta or political backups. So, please bear this sir. People have weak memories nowadays. And yes, don't worry sir. After you breathe your last, these people will reach there before everyone else (Please forgive me, I am writing this out of many grudges).
Shah Rukh Khan with his family, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Asha Bhonsle, Ayushmann Khurrana, and many other Bollywood stars were present to watch the match at Narendra Modi Stadium. The Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also there. But the two cup-winning captains, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kapil Dev, were absent.
