Telugu fans in anxious anticipation of Sudheer Babu’s latest film Sridevi Soda Centre, finally had their long wait rewarded. The star’s film had its theatrical release today. And of course, as expected, Twitter was clamouring with the actor’s fans' tweets, each of them keen to give their take on the film, erupting in a plethora of opinions to put even Roger Ebert to shame.
The consensus seems to touch upon the middle ground, as the reactions to the Karuna Kumar directed film covered everything from calling it a blockbuster to a ‘routine’ one-time watch and ‘boring’.
Some die-hard Sudheer Babu fans, not hard to spot among the group of unimpressed casual viewers, lauded the actor’s performance, calling it ‘impressive’ and marvellous at the Prema Katha Chitram actor’s dedication and the work he put in. In addition to Babu, Naresh and Anandhi’s performances were also singled out by fans and showered with praise.
Even popular Telugu actor Raj Tarun chimed in, talking about how much he loved the film and praising the actors’ performances.
But most netizens who watched the film seemed divided on their opinion of the film’s two halves; while some found the first half engaging and the second slow, others disagreed and said the first half had better storytelling while the second missed the mark. However, most if not all, the people who did not lambast the action drama agreed that the climax was indeed the saving grace of it all, calling the twist ‘unexpected’, ‘emotional’ and even ‘spine-chilling’.
