Srijit Mukherji’s OTT cop drama’s name announced, shooting continues across India

National Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji is currently busy shooting his upcoming crime thriller series for Zee5. OTTplay has reported earlier that the director started shooting in the Northeast in September and roped in Sumeet Vyas, Regina Cassandra, Anna Ben, Barun Sobti, Mita Vashisht, Chandan Roy, and others in the show. On Friday, in an official statement, the OTT platform announced the name and other details of the show. 

In a press statement, Zee5 stated that Srijit’s cop drama, Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke, will be produced by Juggernaut. The shooting started last month in Meghalaya. Billed as an edge-of-the-seat thriller, the series will delve into the numerous insurgents in the Northeast and the constant hostility and threats by them. “It brings to the forefront the story of real heroes in uniform who silently and tirelessly work towards the betterment of the country. It also portrays the struggles they go through while balancing it all – family, critical cases, constant tussle to gain the respect of colleagues and seniors,” the press statement stated. The show will be shot across four states – Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Maharashtra, and will premiere soon on ZEE5 next year. 

Srijit forayed into the Hindi web series space with Netflix’s Ray. Out of four stories based on Satyajit Ray’s short stories in the anthology, he has directed two. Vasan Bala and Abhishek Chaubey have directed the other two. However, the director has worked extensively in the Bengali web space. He had directed Feluda Ferot season 1 based on Ray’s Chhinnomostar Obhishaap for Addatimes. On Hoichoi, he directed Feludar Goyendagiri season 1 which is based on Darjeeling Jawmjawmat. The next season of the series will be based on Bhuswargo Bhoyonkor and will be shot in Kashmir. Besides, another Feluda story, Jawto Kando Kathmandute, has been ready for Addatimes but the release got postponed. Srijit’s Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Asenni on Hoichoi has also been a popular show.
