Silambarasan TR is now busy in his career with some promising projects in the pipeline. The popular actor was supposed to begin filming for his 48th project, which has been tentatively titled STR 48, in February 2024. However, STR 48 directed by Desingh Periyasamy has been put on hold after Kamal Haasan, the legendary actor who was supposed to bankroll the project under his home banner RKFI, made an exit. If the reports are to be believed, Silambarasan is now planning to produce the project himself.

As reported earlier, Kamal Haasan was originally supposed to produce STR 48, under his home banner Raaj Kamal Films International. However, the rumour mills that the banner decided to withdraw from the Desingh Periyasamy directorial due to its funding issues. Even though both Silambarasan and director Desingh were in talks with a couple of leading Tamil production banners to take over the project, nothing has materialised so far.

Now, the grapevine suggests that leading man Simbu has reportedly decided to bankroll the film, himself. If the reports are to believed, Silambarasan’s home banner Atman Productions has come on board to bankroll the highly anticipated project. However, both the leading man and director have not reacted to any of these reports, yet. An official announcement on the same is expected to be revealed, once things are finalised.

STR 48: All you need to know

The yet-to-be-titled film, which is said to be a period fantasy action-drama, reportedly features Silambarasan in a triple role. The supremely talented actor is set to play the protagonist – a highly skilled warrior, a cold-blooded antagonist, and a transgender, in the film. Many popular stars from the South film industry and Bollywood, including Keerthy Suresh, Pooja Hegde and Janhvi Kapoor, are rumoured to be in talks to play the female lead opposite Simbu in the film. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to finalised.
