Stree 2 has broken yet another record, for it has already minted Rs. 400 crores at the Box Office, and is now aiming for Rs. 500 crores. The film, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles, has absolutely no competition from any movie so far and is enjoying its Box Office run, which is expected to last for at least a month, if not two. Furthermore, Stree 2 has an upper hand today, owing to the Janmashtami holiday. Here are the Box Office collections of the movie so far…
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that in a little over two weeks’ time, Stree 2 has minted Rs. 400 crores. The movie earned Rs. 19.30 crores on Friday, Rs. 33.80 crores on Saturday and Rs. 40.75 crores on Sunday. This took the total collections of the movie over the second Friday and weekend to Rs. 93.85 crores.
Stree 2 had already earned Rs. 307.80 in the first week. While the movie released in theatres on Thursday, paid previews were held on Wednesday. The Box Office collections include the paid previews too. Over the 12 days, the film earned Rs. 401.62 crores net at the Box Office.
The next stop for Stree 2 will be Rs. 500 crores. The movie is expected to earn 5 billion before the end of this week. The bigger advantage for the film is that today is also a holiday owing to Janmashtami. Thus, the Amar Kaushik directorial, also starring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in the lead roles with Akshay Kumar in a cameo appearance, will get a boost at the Box Office today too. The movie might end up minting Rs. 450 crores at the Box Office today itself and by the end of the week, it can easily cross Rs. 500 crores given the current pace it holds.
Apart from Stree 2, Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa released at the Box Office. Khel Khel Mein minted Rs. 70 lakhs on second Friday, Rs. 1.35 crores on Saturday and Rs. 1.75 crores on Sunday, according to Sacnilk. Thus, the total weekend Box Office collections for the movie, also featuring Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal, was Rs. 23.15 crores.
John Abraham’s Vedaa, starring Sharvari in the lead roles, is still struggling at the Box Office, for it has not even minted Rs. 20 crores so far. The movie earned Rs. 30 lakhs on Friday, Rs. 55 lakhs on Saturday and Rs. 80 lakhs on Sunday, thus taking the total collections to Rs. 19.25 crores.
Except Stree 2, the movies do not have any direct competition till the month of October-November. The biggest releases during the time are Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency (September 6), Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders (September 13), Alia Bhatt’s Jigra and Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (October 11). November 1 might see a big challenge at the Box Office again, with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again releasing in theatres. So, all the movies have a long run before facing bigger competition at the Box Office.
