Although Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep’s next, the action-fantasy Vikrant Rona, has been ready for a while, he had not announced a new project. For a while, there were rumours of a possible collaboration with Maanadu and Mankatha maker Venkat Prabhu, as the filmmaker had visited Sudeep at his home in Bengaluru a few months ago, but there was no confirmation from either party, so those rumours died a slow death. In fact, taking to social media, Venkat had only praised Sudeep’s culinary skills and hospitality.
Earlier this week, Sudeep decided to address the rumours, when he was quizzed about his upcoming projects during an interview for an online portal. Asserting that a majority of the meatier roles coming to him were from the south film industries, Sudeep added that offers from Bollywood have been coming in at regular intervals, but that pretty much all of them were for antagonist characters. "The characters I look forward to doing are mostly coming from my home and the neighboring places in south. Whatever's been coming from Bollywood has been mostly antagonist's part, which I am not comfortable with unless it is really challenging. We are making films that will release in Hindi as well - one of my next projects is with Mr. Venkat Prabhu who has made Maanadu and Mankatha in the past and he is a brilliant filmmaker. I am very excited to work with him, it's a brilliant script," Sudeep was quoted as saying during the video interview.
During the interview, Sudeep gave no indication as to when this new project will take off. It is expected that the actor, who has been shooting for his part in the R Chandru directed Kabzaa with Upendra, will finish his commitment and then focus on the release of Vikrant Rona, which has been announced for a February 24 theatrical outing, before embarking on a new film.
