Veteran actress Sudha Chandran, who has had a formidable career in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi industries across movies and television shows, is all set to foray into the digital space. You heard it right. She plays the lead role in the show titled Kaneez, which will premiere on ULLU digital on July 30. The actress-cum-danseuse, last seen in Arvind Tripathi's feature film Raag this year, will share screen space with Lakshya Handa in Kaneez.
Sudha Chandran is cast as Begum, a woman who rules the roost in the house but is particular about being in the good books of her husband. Lakshya Handa plays Salim, whose love story drives the show forward. The other cast and crew of the show are yet to be revealed. Kaneez is a show inspired by true incidents from the past, revolving around a young girl who hails from the Miraasan clan.
The trailer of the show was launched earlier this week, with the makers adding, 'Khwaahishon ke bhanvar mein dooba hai kisi ka dil, Ek raaz se uthega parda aur tootegi sapno ki manzil- Kaneez.' The Miraasan clan enjoys a great legacy for their musical and dance repertoire, where its women perform for the elite sections of society. The show charts the emotional, professional highs and lows of the women belonging to the community.
Sudha Chandran's co-actor Lakshya Handa was seen in ALTBalaji's Gandii Baat in 2020 besides a few shorts and TV shows. ULLU Digital has streamed shows like Tandoor, Paper, Assi Nabbe Poore Sau in the past. The streaming platform in a media statement has promised a 'never seen before experience' with Kaneez.
