Sunil Lahri, who played Laxman in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 television series Ramayan, stated that he finds it challenging to "digest" the visual effects in the upcoming film, Adipurush.

Even though they were “new to technology”,the actor insisted that his Ramayan contained no “cartoonish effects" or “mockery”.

He disclosed that the television show's creators made every effort to attain the finest results possible.

In an interview with DNA, he said, “If this technology existed, perhaps Ramanand Sagar would have created something different and superior. Even though VFX has advanced, I think it will be challenging to match Sagar Saab's visual accomplishment.”

Ramayan was developed, written, produced, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The 74-episode Ramayana was telecast from 25 January 1987 to 31 July 1988. Within a few episodes, Sagar's Ramayan sparked a widespread phenomenon that eventually attracted 650 million people, was broadcast in 55 nations and surpassed all other Indian television programmes in terms of revenue.

“Before today, everything was manual, and they continue to use presets. They want to avoid exerting any effort. We used to take care of every little detail and put in the same amount of hard effort whether we were using a green screen or a blue screen. It took us four days to shoot the scene in which Hanumanji carries Ram and Laxman on his shoulders,” Sunil added.

Ram was played by Arun Govil, Sita by Deepika Chikhalia, Ravana by Arvind Trivedi, and Hanuman by Dara Singh.

In the upcoming movie Adipurush, Prabhas portrays Ram, while Sunny Singh plays Lakshman. Kriti Sanon will play Sita and Saif Ali Khan will play Raavan.
