After Ranbir Kapoor confirmed his role in Ramayana (director Nitesh Tiwari's much-anticipated film) and revealed some facts about it, Sunny Deol, whose casting had been suspected for a while, confirmed his involvement recently. The actor-filmmaker unveiled his involvement in the film and divulged some details about it.
Ranbir announced at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah that the first installment of the two-part trilogy has completed filming. “It has two parts,” he declared. The filming of Part 1 is over, and he will shortly begin filming Part 2. The actor is really honored to play the character of Ram and be a part of that story. To him, it's like a fantasy, and one can't ask for more from a film. Indian culture teaches family dynamics and husband-wife dynamics.
Everyone is more excited about the project since Sunny Deol confirmed it. He explained to Indian Express that the Avatar and Planet of the Apes movies served as inspiration for the lengthy Ramayana project. Every one of those technicians is involved—the writer and director are very clear about the way it has to be and how the characters should be presented.
After numerous big-budget films, including Om Raut's Adipurush (starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon) and others based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, garnered criticism for their lacklustre special effects, Sunny vowed that Tiwari's film will have stunning visuals. The special effects will make it seem like what's happening onscreen is happening in real-time, rather than if they're computer-generated. He is confident that it will be great, and he believes that everyone will enjoy it.
Sunny has not confirmed the reports that he plays the character of Hanuman.
Producer Namit Malhotra wrote on social media in November this year, sharing his vision for the project that, more than a decade ago, he embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen.
He expressed his excitement at the progress the teams are making. Their sole goal is to create an adaptation of the history, truth, and culture called Ramayana that would be visually magnificent, authentic, and sacred for people all over the world. Namit continued by assuring fans to come and be a part of their journey as they bring their grandest epic to life with honor and dignity.
According to reports, the project boasts an A-list cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Kannada superstar Yash will play Ravan, while Ravi Dubey has already committed to playing Lakshman. The film's first installment is set to premiere during the 2026 Diwali season, with the second installment following in 2027.
