There's very little buzz around the Sankranti release Super Machi, starring Kalyaan Dhev, despite featuring the most-happening Kannada heroine Rachita Ram and hit composer S Thaman in its lineup. The absence of promotions, especially after getting a coveted festival release slot, is surprising for more reasons than one. The film is written and directed by Puli Vasu. The theatrical trailer of Super Machi was launched today. The film is slated to hit theatres on January 14, alongside Rowdy Boys and Bangarraju.
The trailer starts with a young girl, Meenakshi, working in a corporate firm, discussing the idea of love without meeting someone in person and how special could it turn out. In some time, the mystery man turns out to be Raju, whom Meenakshi is head over heels in love with. The reason behind her fascination for Raju remains undisclosed throughout. Meanwhile, vignettes of Raju's past come to the fore where many don't have kind words to say about him. What connects Raju's past to Meenakshi's present? There's hefty drama, dialogue-baazi in store.
While Rachita Ram is at her casual best, Kalyaan Dhev is seen in multiple avatars. Super Machi looks like an old-fashioned family drama with a twist. S Thaman's background score, at least in the trailer, looks paltry and underwhelming. A party number from Super Machi, named Dinchaku Dinchaku, was released a few days ago. The film is bankrolled by Rizwan under Rizwan Entertainments. Naresh VK, Rajendra Prasad, Posani Krishna Murali, Pragathi, Ajay, Mahesh, Shariff and Satya essay supporting roles.
Shyam K Naidu has cranked the camera for the film while Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor. Krishna Kanth has written the lyrics, with Brahma Kadali handling duties as an art director.
