Suriya 46: Mamitha Baiju to play a 20-year-old romancing an older hero? Naga Vamsi draws parallel to another Tamil blockbuster

Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju has been literally going places after her film Premalu gave her instant fame. The actress has some biggies in her kitty - including Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan and Suriya 46 with the Ghajini star. Now, producer Naga Vamsi has revealed that the upcoming Suriya film would explore the relationship between a 20-year-old girl and a 45-year-old middle-aged man, while also drawing parallels to the star’s blockbuster film Ghajini.

Mamitha Baiju to romance an older hero in Suriya 46

Mamitha Baiju and Suriya have been cast in the Tamil superstar’s 46th film, which is helmed by Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri. In a recent interview with Gulte, producer Nag Vamsi revealed the plot of the much-anticipated film, stating that Suriya 46 would depict the romantic relationship between a 20-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. Though he did not specify Mamitha Baiju as the 20 year old, netizens are speculating it to be her character as she plays the female lead in the film. Earlier, there were speculations that she could be the sister, considering the age gap between the two actors.

Nag Vamsi had backed Venky Atluri’s previous hit film Lucky Baskhar, starring Dulquer Salmaan. Drawing parallels between the upcoming film and Suriya’s Ghajini, Vamsi said that his character would be similar to the Sanjay Ramaswamy of the 2005 hit film.

Bhavani Sre and Radikaa Sarathkumar are also part of the film, along with Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon who returns to Tamil cinema after more than 2 decades

The official title of Suriya 46 is yet to be announced, though the film recently wrapped up shooting.

On the other hand, Mamitha’s other upcoming film is Jana Nayagan, which is led by Tamil star Vijay in his last project before stepping away from cinema as he focuses on politics. Jana Nayagan is slated to release in theatres on January 9, 2026.
