Actor Suriya turned many heads at the audio launch of his brother, Karthi's upcoming film Viruman. The actor who also showed his Rolex watch gifted by Kamal Haasan for his special appearance in Vikram, said that it was a gift from the audience. "Though Kamal sir gave me this watch, I got it because of you," he said.

Talking about Karthi, Suriya said, "I might have come to the industry before Karthi, but he is the one who gives himself completely to his characters. He keeps thinking about cinema all the time. In fact, I would say that he is a better actor me. His contibution along with Yuvan Shankar Raja's to the industry is big. When Yuvan had scored the peppy song Senorita in Poovellam Kettuppar, I was wondering how I was going to dance for the song. I was new and barely learning to act. I had a tough time then. He did a fantastic job with Karthi's debut film Paruthiveeran as well. He is like a younger brother to me."

When the actor began to talk about his National Award for Soorarai Pottru, the hall broke into a roaring applause. "I was not in town for over 40 days. I had gone to New York for the school admission process of my daughter. When I heard the news, it took me 3- 4 hours to process the news. You considered it as a your gift and started owning it. Madurai is special because it celebrates art and artistes in equal measure."

He also thanked Madurai for allowing the team of Viruman to shoot there during pandemic. " Most of the portions were canned during the pandemic in Theni and Madurai. We received immense support during the time to complete the portions." Viruman is a rural entertainer, directed by Muthaiah, which is all set to release on August 11 in theatres worldwide.
