On September 28, Randeep Hooda started the shoot for SwatantryaVeer Savarkar, his first film as a director. The actor-director has accepted the challenge of playing Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, but in order to portray the national hero's role in India's liberation movement in an accurate manner on screen, he would require trusted co-actors.

As per a report in Mid Day, with Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial, his hunt is over. According to sources, Lokhande has been roped in to play Savarkar's wife, Yamunabai. She belonged to the Atmanishtha Yuvati Samaj, an organisation that worked to educate women about politics.

Sandeep Ssingh, a producer and a longtime friend of Lokhande, is working together for the first time on this project. He claimed to the tabloid that they had both shared many happy and sad moments while travelling. She will be in every one of his movies, so it would make him delighted if she became so popular that she didn't have availability of dates for his movie. Ssingh said Lokhande is a talent to behold.

In the current first schedule, the actors have joined Hooda. Ssingh further said that Lokhande acts so wonderfully that people are left teary-eyed, despite the fact that he won't reveal any specifics about her character.

The role of Ganesh Savarkar, also known as Babarao, the oldest of the Savarkar brothers, would reportedly come to life in Sial. He was instrumental in founding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The actor is praised highly by Ssingh, who notes that his knowledge and love for the art are praiseworthy. Additionally, producer Anand Pandit said that Sial brought passion to the story.

Earlier, Mahesh Manjrekar was set to direct the film, but he opted out and passed the baton to Hooda. Talking about the same, the filmmaker-actor told the tabloid that when SwatantryaVeer Savarkar was supposed to start in June, it was postponed, so he had to withdraw. The producers, Randeep, and he all agreed to it because he had other obligations. They wanted to start filming as Bigg Boss 4 Marathi started to air. Manjrekar wouldn't be able to do the movie properly since I am the show's host.
