In just over a week, Ninna Sanihake, the directorial debut of actor Suraj Gowda will release in movie halls across Karnataka. The film, which also marks the debut of Dhanya Ramkumar, the granddaughter of legendary Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar, has been ready for release since early 2020 and even made two attempts to get to movie halls that didn’t pan out eventually. Now that they finally have a date that doesn’t seem likely to change, October 8, the team has begun its final round of promotions and released a new video song today.

Called Olavaagidhe, this track is beautiful on many counts. For starters, it has been composed by Raghu Dixit, with lyrics by Vasuki Vaibhav, and sung by Benny Dayal and Aishwarya Rangarajan. But what really stands out is the tremendous chemistry between lead pair Suraj and Dhanya, as a much-in love couple in a live-in relationship. Most of the sequences in the song actually seem very relatable.

Which is interesting, considering that Suraj and Dhanya did not know each other well until they started working together. How did they manage to get the crackling chemistry just right? “It’s not easy to ‘bring it on’. So, we actually did a series of workshops spanning over a month and a half, which really helped. I got to know Suraj better and we realized that we had a lot in common that we spoke about often. Over time, Suraj actually became my best friend and we were so comfortable with each other before we started shooting. So, on the first day of filming, Suraj was my director, my co-star and my best friend; it just worked out perfectly and that reflects in our onscreen chemistry. I think we really look good together,” Dhanya said, speaking to OTTplay ahead of the film’s release.
