The biggies this weekend are clearly Bedurulanka 2012 and Gandeevadhari Arjuna. While Bedurulanka 2012 is a doomsday comedy starring Kartikeya, Neha Sshetty, directed by a newcomer Clax, the latter is a hard-core action thriller headlined by Varun Tej, Sakshi Vaidya, helmed by Praveen Sattaru. The trailers of both the films managed to create reasonable excitement.

Both films may have the exterior of a mainstream fare, but address interesting aspects related to our lives. If Bedurulanka.. is about how humans manipulate one another preceding a rumoured apocalypse , Gandeevadhari Arjuna takes on issues like climate change, global warming in the backdrop of a UN summit. The films will entertain and make viewers think, the creators opine.

There are two other equally exciting dubbed films - King of Kotha (coming on August 24) and Boys Hostel, that’ll test its fortunes in theatres. The presence of Dulquer Salmaan, Aishwarya Lekshmi should give King of Kotha an edge in terms of the openings, one can’t make the mistake of underestimating Boys Hostel, the dubbed version of the Kannada hit Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare.

The trailer, promotional campaign surrounding Boys Hostel did make an impact in the last few days. The other releases this week include Em Chestunnav and Daksha. Em Chestunnav is a coming of age tale starring Vijay Rajkumar, Neha Pathan, directed by Bharat Mitra. Daksha is a thriller featuring Aayush Tejas, Ayra Anu, Kota Nakshatra, helmed by Vivekananda Vikranth.
