If the buzz in the industry is to go by, the shoot for Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj's next, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy67 is all set to begin tomorrow (January 2) in Chennai. The film is said to be an action-packed entertainer and is likely to have Trisha as the leading lady. Though the actress hasn't confirmed her presence in the film, there is a high chance that she indeed is the leading lady.

During a recent interaction session during the promotions of her latest release Raangi, Trisha had stated that just like the audience, she too would like to work with the Thalapathy again, that too after a span of more than a decade. Trisha and Vijay have been part of a number of hit films in the 2000s and some of their collaborations include Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi. She also said that she will talk about the film only next year. Trisha also reminisced certain scenes from film Ghilli during the interaction and how the rope shots she did during the film, helped her for Raangi as well.

Meanwhile, this will be the second collaboration between Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj after Master (2021). The film written and directed by Lokesh, revolved around an alcoholic professor who is assigned to teach at a juvenile home for a brief period. There he encounters a clash with a ruthless gangster named Bhavani (Vijay Sethupathi). The film went on to become a massive hit.

While Lokesh Kanagaraj moved on to churn out one of the biggest hits in his career Vikram with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan after that, Vijay went on to work in Beast and later, Varisu, which is helmed by Vamshi Paidipally. Varisu is all set to hit screens for Pongal 2023. The film, which is billed as a family drama cum action entertainer, will take on Ajith's Thunivu for Pongal.
